Independent Research Groups / AI for Brain Simulation in Psychiatry

We develop AI-based brain simulations to uncover the mechanisms underlying altered behavior in psychiatric disorders and guide treatment targeting the root causes of each patient's symptoms.

AI for Brain Simulation in Psychiatry

Our research group strives to uncover the biophysical mechanisms causing brain dysfunction in psychiatric disorders, in order to guide treatment strategies targeting the root causes of symptoms in each patient. To do so, we develop biophysically informed neural-network and whole-brain models of brain function, and personalize them leveraging AI tools to infer model parameters each individual's neuroimaging data. Currently, we investigate how excitation-inhibition imbalance could modulate inter-brain synchrony during social interaction in autism, as well as cognitive and inhibitory control in schizophrenia.
