Verena Hallitschke is interested in advancing language-based interactions with medical images, as it is the most intuitive form of communication. She is working on detecting medical conditions in retinal images and expressing them in natural language. To achieve this, she is using vision-language models. In addition to vision-language models, her research interests include explainability and medical image analysis.
