Stella Namuganza attended a workshop on Embodied Digitalities in Göttingen
From October 10th - 11th, Stella Namuganza attended a workshop on Embodied Digitalities: "Digital Imaginaries of Bodies and Emotions" at the Kulturwissenschaftliches Zentrum (KWZ), University of Göttingen.
Initiated by the working group Body and Emotions at the University of Göttingen, this interdisciplinary two-day workshop was dedicated to the topics of digitality and embodiment, both central fields of research in the cultural and social sciences. Based on current digital and technological developments and the social and political rationalities that accompany them, the workshops examined how digital imaginaries transform and challenge social understandings of bodies and emotions. Given that digital technology is fundamentally changing not only our forms of communication but also how we interact with one another, the workshop aimed to develop methodological, theoretical- conceptual and empirical-research-based approaches to examine these transformations concerning bodies and emotions.
The workshop was instructed by Prof. Dr. Yener Bayramoglu (York), Dr. Klara-Aylin Wenten (Kassel) and Dr. Sarah Thanner (Jena).
“My key takeaway from the workshop was the importance of examining the macro and micro digital structures that shape our understanding of our bodies and emotions.”
