FASEB Science Research Conference: Retinal Neurobiology and Visual Processing
June 8–11, 2026 | Sacramento, CA, USA

In June 2026,Hertie AI Postdoc Simone Ebert attended the FASEB Science Research Conference on Retinal Neurobiology and Visual Processing in Sacramento, CA, which is a meeting of vision scientists exploring the structure, function, and disease of the retina. She is part of the Core team of the Eyewire II project: A resource of large-scale electron- microscopy (EM) reconstruction of 1mm2 of the mouse retina, aiming to comprehensively study retinal cell types and connectivity.
The Eyewire II project had a strong presence at the meeting: Two invited talks about the resources, it’s tools and usage were given by Thomas Euler and Greg Schwartz, and Simone Ebert and Julia Fadjukov presented a poster on the wiring diagram an cell typing in the resource – which were both awarded one of the conference poster prizes!

“It was exciting to see how broadly the community has embraced Eyewire II, which is already open to researchers in the field of vision science. At least 10 posters and talks from independent groups made use of the dataset and presented first results, reflecting the growing impact of the resource.”

The conference was a fantastic opportunity to connect and grow the Eyewire II community— if you haven't explored the resource yet, now is a great time to join!
