ELLIS Summer School for Machine Learning and AI in Health 2025
From 7 - 11th July, PhD student Ifeoma Nwabufo attended the ELLIS Summer School for Machine Learning and AI in Health. The summer school took place in the EPFL campus in Lausanne this year. The topics covered included core foundations in machine learning to cutting‑edge topics in computer vision, generative AI, and graph neural networks in medicine.
“I have always wanted to visit EPFL, and the summer school afforded me the opportunity. I liked the structure of the summer school. It was a mix of academic lectures and industry talks. It was interesting to see how faculty and industry experts have different educational backgrounds and work together towards advancing AI in health. I became more aware of many other application areas of AI in medicine. Aside from listening to talks, I also got to try my hands on Agentic AI, which is a cool feature powered by Generative AI. I had the opportunity to connect with brilliant peers, exchange ideas, and gave a pitch of one of my projects! My biggest takeaway is to be open to trying different methods to solve a problem. There are many ways to tackle a problem!”
